I live on flat land so I have to drive a good bit before I reach any hills. Fortunately, there’s a hiking trail about an hour from me that I visit frequently but it’s nothing like being in the mountains. Last weekend, we took a much-needed day trip to the mountains for some hiking, fall foliage, and good ol’ family fun. I rolled out of bed at 3:10 am on a Saturday and we were on the road by 5:30 am. It was a long day (it was close to midnight before we got home), and I was exhausted, but it was well worth it!
We drove the 4+ hours to Garrett County, MD, which is as far west in Maryland as you can go, and we took in some amazing sights along the way. Our destination was Deep Creek Lake and the magical mountains. Deep Creek Lake is very special to my husband and I. We’ve been going there almost every year since 2002 and it never disappoints us. It’s something we look forward to every year.
Anyway, this trip was incredible for a lot of different reasons. First of all, I was 30 pounds lighter so that made hiking that much more enjoyable for me. I wasn’t winded, tired, or sore and I smashed my FitBit goals for the day.
Here are some awesome photos from our trip.
We had an amazing time and I can’t wait to go back next year! Where is one place you like to visit annually?
